Making a creative CV
Back in February Sebastian showed us how to make a creative CV. By showing us the do's and don'ts it made it a lot easier for me when putting together my own. Even though I have worked two jobs I was never asked for a CV. I was lucky enough to get the job when I was younger without needing one and were also a family friend. Coming up for graduation and looking for something new I definitely need to sort my CV out! Whether it be a creative one to continue with photography or less creative just to help me get started with a full time job.
The session was certainly helpful seeing as I'd never done one before. I began by looking at really interesting colourful CV's, until I remembered Sebastian saying not to. When the employer wants to print my CV they will most likely avoid it as they won't want to pay for the colour that the CV would cost. Something simple and effective is key. The less information the better chance they will read it.
The outcome so far looks pretty good. Modern, professional, little information but enough to cover the important stuff. The text is easy to read and I actually liked this template in particular because it was different. A lot of resume's I'd been looking at were spread across the sheet with text going down the left and right hand side of the page for separate categories. However this one continued down the middle. This may not be what they're looking for so I will get advice on this from the tutors. I am seeing James S tomorrow so hopefully I will remember to ask if not I can email it across.
