Where I Am
This was the first brief handed to me on the 21st of September with a formative assessment on the 24th of September. The project was designed to introduce and/ or reinforce our knowledge of the use of a 35mm SLR camera and encourage us to develop teamwork and communication skills. We had two location shoots, one at Norwich Cathedral and another at Norwich Plantation Garden. We worked in small groups of 4-5 people, discussing ideas with other group members and supporting one another, helping to develop/ improve ideas for the task given. The tutors were looking for individual work, creative responses to what we see and how we present our creative ideas as a photographer. The four images we had to take had to meet the brief specified: (i) Selective focus, also known as shallow depth of field but without the object nearest in focus. (ii) extensive depth of field. (iii) frozen movement. (iv) blurred movement. As well as these four images we were asked to create a piece of reflective writing on 'Where I Am', identifying our strengths, areas of development, setting up targets, and how we will critically review our progress throughout the course of 8 weeks. I have separately attached this file from this post.
An image that blurs movement - lily-pads and waterfountain
An image that shows selective focus (shallow depth of field), without the object nearest the camera being in focus - bee inside a flower
An image that freezes movement - burning candle
An image which shows extensive depth of field - waterfountain
