'Someone once told me... I am fragile'

So, to start the course we were set off around Norwich for a few hours finding something that we could photograph which would match up with 'Someone once said...'. At first I froze and forgot everything. I simply could not think what they were asking me to do. Being a university student I thinking more complex things when in reality it was such a simple task! I enjoyed it thoroughly and was very pleased with the outcome. My final image out of the few which I wanted to use was a glass frame preserving butterflies placed on a chair, sitting next to another but a much smaller one presenting only one butterfly.

I liked this image as the colours presented were bright but how they were presented along mouldy greens and browns brought out a duller side to them. I chose to use the term 'fragile' because butterflies wings are known to be fragile and to form an emotional attachment with the image, I used the butterflies wings to present that I am a fragile person (emotional). I believe I met the brief criteria and was pleased with the overall outcome. As of criticism, I believe the image could have been shot with a better focus, I notice that it's not at complete focus point and some areas are slightly blurry. On the other hand I quite like how this has an effect on the image as a whole, reflecting the context of the image within technique as well as props within the image. After we brought back our images they were then set up by the PALs to create a small exhibition of the classes work. Not only was there photography work presented, but also fine art, graphics, illustration and many more subjects. This was a good way to show others who may have not known about these other courses to see what they had been getting up to within the induction week as well as ourselves.
