Andy Earl

Andy is a renowned photographer and film maker. Concentrating on the 'picture', he creates a surrealistic effect, using natural dramatic back drops and architectural elements. His work has brought him much success; having photographed over 120 creative memorable covers and album sleeves, and also working for celebrities, music artists, companies and clients.

Today, Andy was discussing his personal and commercial work and the relationship between still and moving image.
He presented to us a moving image for a music video: The Rolling Stones - Like A Rolling Stone. Andy explained that the moving images were to connote the life of Edie Sedgwick: an american fashion model who was married to Michael Post but died at the age of 28 because of a possible intoxication.
Shooting with two cameras, Andy was able to capture a 3D effect and an average of 1200 stills.
During the video you can see the background is fairly blurred but this was to give off the effect of an 'hallucination'. Edie consumed drugs and it is known that people under the influence of drugs and alcohol tend to 'blur' your vision and thoughts.
