Overview of Unit 1

Beginning the course, opening with the What is Photography? project, it made me feel lost... I felt as if I didn't have enough experience in my photographic skills and began to lose motivation. I made research into the photographers that were mentioned within the text and it made me feel much more confident. Having spoken to friends and other people on the course they openly shared ideas to help me get started with the project.
I felt rushed with the projects thinking I needed to get them done there and then but I like how it is spaced out across the course unit and that we have group crits to go to which help me keep up to date with my work and gives you a chance to view other students work for ideas or inspirations or even just a nosey to see what everyone else has to offer in photography.
I really enjoy blogging into the reflective journal, reflecting on what I had learnt in the workshops and is definitely helpful when I need referencing. I also like writing about our lecturers who come in and show us their work and what they do, it keeps me alert knowing I need to get down whatever information that I find is helpful or resourceful and knowing that if I'm looking for a photographer to relate to my work I can always refer back to them and use them as connections/ inspiration or more.
My visual logbook is coming along nicely and I'm feeling up-to-date with that. I much prefer documenting my work digitally rather than manually as it was too time consuming and would have been costly having to pay for my print outs. I was also able to save many copies insuring I wasn't to lose any of it whereas a sketchbook perhaps may have not been so sufficient. It's just a LOT easier and simple and I document wherever I go whether commuting by train or bus I can sit with my laptop and proceed with work whilst traveling.
Overall I am thoroughly enjoying the course and having only been here for a matter of weeks or shall I say a couple of months I have already learnt so much more whereas when I started, I knew only the basics.
