Lecture with James Grant

Shooting since the age of 17, James completed an art foundation a year after and then completed a BA course at LCF. To begin with he initially wanted to be a painter.
James has worked as a freelance photographer's assistant for Miles Aldridge, Tyrone Lebon, Brett Lloyd, Ben Weller, among others, he continued to receive a MA in Fashion Photography at LCF.

With his personal work, he likes to be funny with it.
Since 2013 he continued to work as a freelance photographer, harmonising his fine art training and fashion experience for a dynamic style of photography. Publications, celebrities and clients include; i-D, BEAT, Is In Town, Mushpit, Vice, Elle UK, ALVAR, Wonderland, NME, Damon Albarn, Alice Dellah, Alexa Chung, Dickies, Edwin Europe, Barbour International, Mercury Records, Intruder Records, amongst others.
James shared with us that as a female photographer approaching the photographic world, we'd be better off assisting as a digital operator rather than an assistant because men are slightly more resourceful when it comes to lifting heavy props for the camera gear.
