Interchange: Tour of local artists studios

Even though I've never gave a studio much thought, I'm seriously debating it now. Especially after finding out that some photographers have turned their studio into a dark room which I miss a lot within my work. It's something to consider in the future...

First of all we was shown this fairly small building which actually had a few studios inside. We spoke to one gentleman who shared his working space with his daughter who was currently studying.
It was great to see that there is working space for not only students but for freelance workers to produce there work within for reasonable prices.

We were then taken to Anglian Square to an old building that had been taken over to be used for studio space. I was amazed by not only what they'd transformed this old building into but some of the work created and the amount of it. The top left corner of paintings on canvas' was crazy! I've never seen so much work. It seemed as if they'd used the studio for a storage unit, but the pieces made were unusual but certainly interesting. The type where you have to look twice because you realised that the marks actually add up to something.
One studio in particular actually influenced me within my other project working alongside the collaboration brief. She was currently working on top of existing work. She had left her sketch book lying around and her child decided to draw in. However she took from that and developed from the child drawings creating something new from it. Having to work in collaboration for the first brief I felt this could be another way of looking into collaboration rather than working with illustration or graphics, etc.

I'm most glad I went to this interchange event. Like I said before it's probably nothing that I will want but in the near future he could be something to consider and at least I have somewhere to look first.
