Personal Project
Just recently I have been photographing my boyfriend whilst he practises motocross over the weekend. It's been a benefit for the both of us as he is gaining free images to keep as I'm practising and improving my photographic skill. I've never shot fast movement before, therefore I thought it was something extra I could do during my spare time to learn from. I've now shot the past couple of weekends including his dad and friend. Today I was asked to photograph one of his friends so that he could get one done on a canvas. I was more than happy to do that however felt under pressure slightly as I felt the images I'd taken so far were no where near as good as I'd like them to be. The track is quite tricky to get around and very steep. I also wasn't sure what types a shot a rider would expect or like. Luckily with my boyfriend on hand he worked alongside me guiding me around the track and telling me, as a rider himself, what shots he would like.
In the end he was pleased with the shots and the family member wanting to get a canvas done found one they really liked which was great to see as I worry a lot about not meeting expectations.
I always point out before I'm asked to photograph for a friend, family or even a stranger that I'm no where near as good as I want to be however I try my best. I'm not doing it for the money I'm doing it for the experience and extra lessons, that way less pressure is taken off me so that they don't feel they've wasted their money if the outcome wasn't to their expectations.
I understand I should have more confidence in myself and I feel from university I have improved massively and enjoy photographing for clients.
Here is one image that I like best out of all I've taken so far during my practise.
