1:1 with Ellen, Tuesday 2nd May
Ellen was really helpful, having experienced losing her Mother also she advised me where to look and try to finalise my work.
Miss Aniela's blog was certainly an interesting read which Ellen recommended to me. My letter to Evan and to the world was based around the loss of her son and how she has grieved and overcome that loss by accepting it. The loss of her son has made her appreciate life much more than she did before. It's something that I will definitely add into my work as it has great relevance. She also recommended me Don't go where I can't follow by Anders Nilsen. I haven't quite read up on that just yet but I will be sure to.
As we discussed the tone of my images looking rather cold when I wanted something warmer to represent comfort, Ellen noticed that in fact Miss Aniela's images are full of blue tones and perhaps this is a colour that she associates with her feelings and past experience. The cold tones can represent comfort for me but in the sense of creating those feelings felt as well as the recovery.
We went through what I had completed so far for the self initiated brief checking what I had to do to achieve the best of the LO's. I am far from finishing the project but from what I had Ellen was helpful telling me what I needed to do and emphasise on to reach better marks than I'd previously received for the last few units.
After seeing Ellen I'm feeling a lot more confident about the project and realising that if I'm making this project about a personal experience I should definitely go into detail about it with my work and discover others who have experienced the loss of someone and who have created work from it whether written or artistic.
