Overview of Research Projects: Group discussion and feedback
During todays session we reviewed what each report included. At the minute I'm thinking between industry and reflective. I did however consider editorial but tutors have explained that you should only go for editorial if you are looking to go into photo journalism. At this point I'm not so sure therefore I will forget about editorial for now.
In groups we had been given a report to find questions that we might have to talk about in that type of essay. We were given editorial. An editorial report consists of a 2000 word article followed by the 3000 word text. The article can be either formal or informal depending on the style you are looking for/ inspired by. I thought editorial could fit into my practise as I focus on lifestyle photography.
At first we found it quite hard until we managed to come up with a few questions:
- What is wrong with the fashion and beauty industry?
- Does post-production give unreal standards?
- How is reclaimed fashion represented in todays market?
We were then given another sheet where we had to mark a percentage out of 100 to the 2 contrasting items. Those items would be required when writing an essay. For our group a lot of it was 50% because it really depended on what type of article you was looking at writing about.
