Briefing with James S
James went through the briefs with us reviewing the LO's, what we need to be writing in our reflective journals and visual logbooks.
First of all he advised that we found ourselves assisting jobs or at least participating with photographers both assistance and advice this year. Getting a job earlier on will save us time later when we want to be recognised for our own work.
He also discussed the format of our work - not that we need to be worrying about that just yet, but considering it in the near future. When showing work to clients or professionals the presentation is just as important as the images that we are showing to them. We need to take pride in our work and think about our presentation. He advised that we print our work unless we had to present it digitally because it's flexible and a more creative way of presenting yourself. This can cost as much as we make it out to be, it doesn't have to be an expensive process.
With the first brief it asks for 15 final images. James mentioned that if we are doing moving image for our final piece that obviously they are not asking for 15 clips. Therefore we need to find a balance between our moving image pieces and stills. Nearer the time talking to a tutor and being professional about how I will make the requirement up. Also in the brief we should be considering collaborations.
We need to remember that our visual logbooks do not have to feature just photographers work but think about other artists work.
