Sandra Reynolds

Georgia Butler came in today to tell us about what Sandra Reynolds can offer to us students. I've never contacted another business before on behalf of my shoots if I need a model or location. I've usually found someone I know or a place I know of. Looking back at specific projects I would have found this very helpful because I had been struggling for locations and models that reflected Autumn. The models that I were using weren't giving me enough energy as I had expected. The actors/models from Sandra Reynolds may have been more useful and appropriate for my project. However this is now something I can consider in the future. Even though my projects have become more personal to myself and actors/models would not reflect the same concept it could be useful within another type of project.

There's a few things we need to consider before contacting Georgia. It's not as simple as asking for a model, you need to be specific, professional and creative.
  • Professionalism
The email needs to be spot on with spellings and grammar.
  • Treatment
When working with their models, we need to make sure they are treated the very best. With poor treatment this could cut the connection with working with Sandra Reynolds again.
  • Model Brief
It's easy enough to ask for a model but not just any model will suit the job. Therefore Georgia asks for a summary of the brief including a moodboard/treatment to help her with the decision. This also feeds into professionalism as it is something vital to include when working with clients.
  • Creatives
  • Timescale
Georgia needs to see the timetable during the shoot. What time the model needs to arrive for, what time she will be having her hair and makeup done including location. Everything should be put onto this timescale so that her model has a professional experience and knows what will be going on. Again this feeds into professionalism and will be vital when completing shoots for clients.

Georgia also wants to see examples of our own work including images for the moodboard/treatment.  This can be attached through email or a link to your website. This is so she can see where your work will fit into their own brief. Also when shooting their models they ask for profile photos be taken for the models portfolio.

Visual Analysis
Who Am I? We discussed images that had no context alongside them and others which had pages to go with. Some images don't necessarily need a concept if they are extremely well photographed and can be easily read. Whereas others, without concept, don't look as successful.
Our images don't need a lot of text to explain the concept unless necessary. With my current work going on I feel mine could become a lengthy piece due to the background behind the images and why I'm capturing one person in particular. I could be wrong and end up only having a few sentences but as I'm developing the idea constantly I'm building up on my concept. This is really interesting and helpful to know as sometimes I do tend to write more than I would need to.
