In todays session we discussed our research reports through speed dating. We had to move around every 10 minutes and swap pairs, making sure we got the best out of the session from those who work in different practises. I still have no question planned for the essay therefore I had to explain my project idea to each student.

My project is lifestyle/ documentary photography capturing my family and the relationships I share with them. In particular I'll possibly be focusing on my grandmother as previous projects based on her have been successful. After speaking to students and tutors I feel its best to stick with what I know but show improvement and experiment even further than I did before. For the essay I think I'm going to look into how a narrative can be read from an image, or how people read a photograph. When I'm photographing with this meaning of nostalgia, memory and bereavement I want the emotions to shine through therefore I think this will be an interesting link to my practise and a good plan for my essay.
From todays task I walked away feeling much more confident about the essay. I'm starting to come away from my project and find a question that sits both within my interest and current practise. I probably need to book a 1:1 within the next week or so to discuss question ideas.
To the right are photos of the worksheet we used for the session. As you can see I managed to get quite a lot! I was really pleased with the outcome and I'm glad I've got lots to review. I've been struggling for movies and books to review and luckily I was given couple of examples to look in to. Also museums were recommended such as the Museum of Everything and Bethlem, Museum of the Mind.
Today was very useful for both my current project and in order for me to make a start in my essay. I'm beginning to put a question together in which I feel I can write enough about.
