Seminar: Research Report: PechaKucha
When I was first reminded last Monday about the PechaKucha I panicked because I still didn't have a solid idea for my essay question. Luckily I had my 10 point plan to refer back to the help me get started. Once I had made a start using that everything else fell into place.
I started off by explaining why I had chosen to write a reflective report and how this fits in better with my question.
Then, using my 10 point plan I ill show what I will research and the analysis & practise. For the research I will be including a survey to discover ones findings from reading an image with and without text. Also compare and contrast the differences between subjective photographers and other artists work. I'm also interested in finding out their theories behind their subjective approaches. What drew them into photographing in that way.
For analysis & practice I added in where my practice will fit into a photographic career such as freelance or photojournalism. Also presenting the work that I am currently making because the essay was influenced by my current practice.
After I presented the work students were able to give advice/answer questions... here is what I got:
- Don Mccullin. Look at the personal work he created about war time and his landscapes. During my search to see what sort of work he has produced, on his website I found this very interesting quote.
- Also Roland Barthes. Grieving from losing his mother he looked for her in old images. He has written a book based around this... Camera Lucida. This could feed in with my concept and essay question as I too am focusing on the loss of my mother and memory.
