Group Crit
I had completely forgot that James C told me to bring in prints of my images to present to the group. That way people can get a closer look and feel for what I am trying to create. Therefore I shall remember to do so for the sign up crits next week or try and arrange a small group of people to look at my work outside of university. I feel I need to work with people who don't know anything about me or my nan in order to see whether what I am photographing is having an effect on my audience and if they understand the concept.
A student suggested that I staged some images and see what narrative I can build from them. Throughout the project I have been following my grandmother around the room and catching the moment when I want to. Perhaps I should give this a go instead. I believe I could receive some good images by doing this. I will try this within my next shoot!
James spoke about the edits. What will I be presenting my final work as... a book? moving image piece? and start planning out those. I have been doing a little bit of moving image within my work but I'm not so sure whether I have spent enough time on it for it to be a final piece. Plus I believe I book could work better because of my context and the notes that I would like to leave with some of the images I plan on using. As I'm doing a book I should start planning and screenshot pages as I go along.
James also said to think about how others will view it. Just because they haven't experienced what I have they can also imagine. Like James said having children himself it would obviously upset him to think about his children having to live without a mum or dad when he knows they need them. It will get people to think about their relationships and realise how important these relationships are.
Lastly he said about going back to previous research that I put together for BA1 and BA2 as it has relevance to my project. I have worked in all 3 years around family and relationships apart from 1 or 2 projects therefore I shall go back and see if I've forgotten about anyones work that has great relevance to my current work.
