Production Workshop With Katy Niker

Katy showed us a diagram which showed importance of jobs and who we needed to contact for different things.

A treatment is required from the photographer. This needs to include visual images, preferably of their own work. The client then makes the decision based on that treatment and the photographers previous work. The art buyer contacts the photography agency with briefs and visuals.
The photographer will go with the location scout with a camera and the lens they imagine they will be using for that particular job. They will be able to see if the location works or not before setting the whole job up and wasting time.

Here are some of the details the production company need to organise before having a date for the shoot...
Location Scout
Details of everyone involved. Email addresses, full names, mobile number, etc.
Hotels if necessary
Transport, detailed maps
Behind the scenes work, protection of equipment if weather is poor
Digital equipment
Backups
1st and 2nd assistant
Mileage
Website
Producer
Location insurance
Casting agent
Studio
Model fees
Hair and makeup
Wardrobe
Catering
Shoot production insurance - this is incase an incident happens before the shoot which they then have to cancel any arrangements. This is to cover them if this was to happen.

Professional Indemnity is something very important to consider when photographing for advertisement. Especially clothing, cars, etc that have new products waiting to go out. If someone from the public or even someone within the group takes a picture of whats going on during the set of the item, and posts it online then this will cover you.

Other companies to consider...
LPA Photographers - Futures
Horton Stevens - Platform
New Talent
Photo Agents London
