Making a Creative CV: improvements
I booked a 1:1 with James S to speak mostly about my project, both the content in my visual logbook and reflective journal. During this session I asked him to take a look at my CV. Here are some of the points he mentioned...
- Freelancer should be placed at the top of my jobs list
- Show creativity in my personal profile/skills section
- Personal profile and Skills can be put together if discussing the same in one paragraph
- Write about the photography that I am interested in and why
I went away and amended the changes he asked of me. They were pretty simple and I spent some time putting together a better paragraph for my professional profile and skills section. Now that I have completed it I asked a peer to check through it and give me some advice. She said...
- Add some more information about what skills I have developed from my jobs
- Suggest that I like working in a team, how is my time management? Have I had any recognition of good work within those jobs? Apply to both university and jobs outside
- Mention that I have learnt to work in a professional photographic studio
- Rename the first section to Professional Profile as there is no show of skills unless I decide to add in skills
- Remove hyperlinks to my email and website unless I am sending my CV as a digital PDF. If so, make sure they work
With that I went away and completed a third draft. Below is my finished, creative CV. I am not sure what I am doing after university so I will need to produce another CV for jobs that don't ask for a creative CV.
